Mt Spokane Ski & Snowboard Park will host the 2nd Annual KAN JAM with three events and a weekend of fun and music. We kick things off on Friday, January 30 with a night KAN JAM RAIL JAM at 6pm, Saturday, January 31 at 11am will be the KAN JAM SLOPE STYLE, then on Sunday, February 1 at 11am we will hold the KAN JAM BIG AIR. Participate in one, two, or all three of these weekend events or just come join the fun and watch some sick tricks on the slopes.

This event benefits the 49° North Ski Patrol and features a costume contest, poker run, barbeque and raffle. The main attraction is the slush cup. Now in it’s 10th year the slush cup is a great spectator event but you can also take part if you dare. Participants try and coax their skis and snowboards to carry them all the way across an 80’ ice cold pond. It is truly the thrill of victory for the few and the icy cold agony of defeat for those who fall short of the far shore.

March 15, 2009Saturday March 14th, 2009. Register by 10AM in the ticket office. Team or Iron race with four legs, tubing, alpine, nordic and snowboard. Racing begins at 11AM, $15 per team person or $25 for iron slider.
49 Degrees North : Bavarian Race

Started in 1974 as the Yosemite Sam Beer Race, it has evolved into the Bavarian Race, a local favorite for team racing. Hundreds of people come for the race and festivities that follow the race. Team members after last chair take part in a brat/sauerkraut eating contest, then load Chair #1 to the Summit of Chewelah Peak. The Downhill race course is from Silver Ridge to Silver King and the Lodge. The competitors run the course one team at a time with five minute break between teams. The Bavarian Race is the only team Downhill race in the Northwest and maybe North America. Upon reaching the bottom of the mountain, a large pitcher must be consumed by the team . This is a timed event and you must be twenty one to enter the race.

Crystal : IFSA North American Junior Freeskiing Championship

Presented by the Mountain Challenge, junior boys and girls ages 17 and under will compete in this event, the finals of a six (6) mountain IFSA North American Junior Freeskiing Tour. A competition that strays from man-made race courses, and instead works with the mountain’s natural features. Junior competitors (age 17 and under) choose cliffs, steep terrain, and speed to increase the difficulty and technicality of their run. This 2nd Annual event is a spin off of the Silver King Freeride which has become a showcase for freeskiing’s progression; skiers continuously seek to achieve what’s just beyond what’s been achieved before as they try to win the top cash prizes. IFSA junior membership required.
